Development: A developer based in Montgomery and Atlanta said it intends to bring quality change to a vacant field west of North Memorial Parkway and south of Hollow Road. The developers proposed about 600 housing units, including apartments and more than 100 townhouses. The development would also include retail on the bottom floor of the apartment buildings.

Investment: GE Aerospace announced it is investing $650 million in its manufacturing sites and supplier partners, including a $16.8 million investment at its Huntsville site.

Defense

Awarded: Through a joint venture, Astrion and AI Signal Research Inc. have been awarded a five-year, $910 million contract with the U.S. Army to assist with testing weapons systems at Redstone Arsenal. The contract supports the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command.

Mazda Toyota Manufacturing is set to undergo a leadership transition as Masashi Aihara, the founding Plant President, steps down from his role. Aihara, who has been instrumental in MTM’s journey since joining in 2018, will facilitate the introduction of Mitsunobu Mukaida as the new president.
