3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Neglect Local Marketing

Pin with red flag sits on map to show where you can shop local as local marketing effort

You are taking your business global. The world is your customer.

As a business owner or manager, you should have lofty goals.

We will ask, however, for you to bring it back down a bit. In fact, bring it all the way back to your local market. The one that’s happening right outside your door.

On your path to world domination, don’t forget to be present in your physical location. It’s important, and here are three reasons why.

3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Neglect Local Marketing

#1- Be Found Where You Actually Are

With people using their voices to search (Hey Google, Alexa, Siri), you have to have a local online presence to be found by those virtual assistants.

One way to achieve that is to claim and maintain your Google My Business, which requires a physical address.

Your business listing on Google My Business allows Google to display your information in a variety of different ways. It’s free to use and gives you control over the information Google has about your business while allowing you to share additional information to keep your listing up-to-date.

#2- Claim Your Space

Speaking of Google and search engines, if you don’t claim your space on Google, figuratively and literally, you are leaving it up to others to do it for you.

Your brand can be global, but your locations have a local somewhere, and if you don’t put out your shingle or raise your flag, you are giving up serious control.

#3- Builds Community Goodwill

You, your employees, and the places they work are a part of a local community. Businesses that take part in their communities can generate goodwill and familiarity. Word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool!

Some of the ways you can be involved in your community include:

  • Sponsoring local community events
  • Host training
  • Write about local interests on social media
  • Network within the community for partnerships or cross-promotional ideas
  • Advertise locally

Take charge of your space in that community and market your business locally. Your path to global domination starts in your own town.
