Expansion:  City Wide Facility Solutions, a management company in the building maintenance industry, continues its growth trajectory with the announcement of its Huntsville location, its second location in Alabama.

Groundbreaking: Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and other City officials broke ground on The Park at Hays Farm. The nine-acre park is located at 801 Haysland Road near Grissom High School. Construction will take about 14 months, with a tentative opening set for fall 2025.

Ranking: Huntsville made No. 10 in the new market study by the flex workspace listing site CoworkingCafe. Aspiring small business owners are more likely to thrive in Huntsville than most other cities in the nation, according to a new ranking of entrepreneurship potential across 136 metro areas.

Government

Rates: Huntsville Utilities proposes a rate modification charge to electric customers. This rate modification would be a 5.3% increase over a 10-month, beginning in January 2025.

Defense

Launch: United Launch Alliance (ULA) achieved a significant milestone on October 4 with the successful launch of its second certification flight (Cert-2) for the next-generation Vulcan rocket. ULA will now work with the Space Force to review the data and confirm Vulcan’s readiness for future national security launches. Once certified, the Vulcan rocket will be eligible to launch critical missions for the U.S. government.

Award: Huntsville teacher Denielia Turner, a 2nd grade teacher at Rolling Hills Elementary School, has been named a finalist for the 2024 Toyota Family Teacher of the Year award. This prestigious honor is presented by the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) in partnership with Toyota.

Religion: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has plans to build a temple in Huntsville. When opened, it will be the second Mormon temple in Alabama.
